MEET THE INSTRUCTORS

HARA SENSEI

I am a native Japanese, living in the US for the last 20 plus years. I received my teaching credential from San Jose State, after I raised two children. I have been teaching Japanese Level 2 at LGHS and loving it! My goal is to provide a safe and fun environment where students learn empathy through learning another language and culture. Student engagement is essential in learning something new. Whether it is face-to-face or remote, I encourage students to participate and use the language.
My favorite motto is “Never give up”. Looking forward to learning with you!

KOBAYASHI SENSEI

Since my college days, I always knew that I wanted to work in overseas doing something with language. After spending two years for teaching Japanese as an exchange teacher in Maine through JALEX Program, I realized that this is my true calling. I earned a MA in Foreign Language Teaching from Monterey Institution of International Studies and have been teaching Japanese in high school since 2003.

I am dedicated to getting to know my students and build a safe learning community at school. I believe that education should help students to experience joy of learning, be a productive and responsible member of society, and be a kind human being. I hope learning Japanese language and culture will widen one's perspectives and open doors for the next adventures.
