SENIOR, CLASS OF 2020

I loved the sense of community. Not everyone were friends with each other outside of class, but we were all friends inside of class. It created a very safe and welcoming community on campus for anyone to go to.

FRESHMAN, CLASS OF 2023

Thank you for an amazing year. I really enjoyed it and will continue to do Japanese for a long time.

SENIOR, CLASS OF 2023

I would say the Japanese program is one of the best programs at the school. I learned a lot, and the language forces you to think critically, in a different way than any other class. The class had innumerable exchange programs that allowed us to connect with people from Japan. I don't think any other classes had that level of international connection. It made the experience very authentic and also fun.

Calligraphy teachers visited our class and students learned how to write Japanese letters using proper brush posture. We also invited a Shakuhachi and Shamisen master from Japan performed for Japanese 3H class. Zan Buddihist Monks presented about their life and had discussion with AP Japanese class.

COOKING

Students learn about Japanese culture and their values from making comfort food such as Okonomiyaki, Dorayaki, roll sushi and sharing food with classmates.
